I came up with the solution for the emblem of this club by thinking about how to visually represent that it is a women’s handball club from Mokrin. A symbol/cartoon often found in Serbian heraldry, including on the coat of arms of Serbia, is the so-called “krin.” This symbol seemed very fitting to me because part of the word “moKRIN” is contained within its name. Additionally, the symbolism of the lily represents the feminine principle, and one of its meanings is as a symbol of love and the Mother of God.

However, there is another interpretation of this symbol, which suggests that it may not be a lily (krin), but an iris (perunika). This is very plausible because, in my opinion, the confusion occurred in the French language, where, intentionally or unintentionally, there was a mix-up between the word for iris, fleur-de-iris, and the word for lily, fleur-de-lis. It also makes sense that the iris would appear on the coat of arms of Serbia rather than the lily, because the iris is associated with the god Perun, the protector of rulers. The shape of the iris flower itself further supports this interpretation.

Even if we consider the symbol to be an iris, it is still suitable for the emblem of a women’s club, as the iris also represents the feminine principle. The iris is a plant dedicated to the god Perun, and in this context, it symbolizes the feminine. The handball at the top of the iris serves to signify that this is a handball club.

INTERESTING FACT: It is worth noting that this symbol can be seen as half of the Serbian cross with four points, which could symbolically represent one of the two principles – male/female. In this case, it signifies the feminine half of the Serbian national identity.
